Checking the Organic Search Traffic Potential
In this guide, we take a look at search engine traffic and how to research the potential in a niche.
What is Search Engine Traffic?
Using a search engine means that you go to Google, Bing, Yahoo, Ask.com or other search engines and type in what you’re looking for. For example, if you go to Google and type in “hawk250” you will see our team member Nihad’s websites https://hawk250.com/ and https://hawk250.com/shop/.
Is it possible to get search engine traffic for your Fresh Stores?
Yes, it is!
Nihad's website gets good search engine traffic because of good content and patience. His main domain is a wordpress blog where he keeps most of his content. He adds videos of things he does to the bike as well as just simple videos of him cruising with the motorcycle.
His domain also has the keyword but it’s not necessary in order to be in the top, as you can see by the other options you get for the keyword. He also doesn’t add content every day, there is no need but he does add new content here and there to keep the website relevant and updated.
Can you do the same with your stores? Yes!
What is SEO?
SEO stands for Search Engine Optimization. It describes what we do to try to improve our traffic from search engines.
What is SEO Potential?
Some websites and niches might be a dream to promote due to a viral nature, many keen bloggers etc. Try and assess how hard it will be to get backlinks for each niche.
For example, power tools are fairly boring and there are not many blogs about them. Gadgets, video games etc. are interesting and more people discuss them in forums, blogs etc.
How can I check SEO Potential?
Take a look at existing sites in your niche and how they are promoted. Are they on Facebook? If so do they have many fans? Are they on Twitter? etc.
Is the product in your niche interesting? Controversial? Does it provoke a lot of discussion? These factors will help you understand if your site is easy to promote.
What can I do to increase Search Engine Traffic for my website?
This will be covered in a later topic and full training guide, but in summary, getting traffic this way is a long term process that takes time and patience.
